PRESSKIT

Alize Francheska Rozsnyai is a coloratura soprano “displaying profound imagination and control” (Philadelphia Inquirer), building a diverse and exciting performance career as a classical soprano with a "superb voice" (Harrogate News), and acclaimed interpreter of new music, supplying "deliciously diva performances" (I CARE IF YOU LISTEN).

In her September 2021's performances of Alcina REVAMPED, Alize "impresses as Morgana. She attacks the melismatic demands of “Tornami a vagheggiar” ("Come Back to Woo Me") with practiced ease and accentuates the besotted naiveté of her character..." (Broad Street Review).

This season Alize makes her debut performing with St. Petersburg Opera in as an Emerging Artist covering the role of Morgana in Handel's Alcina, debut performances with Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra in Arnold Schoenberg's Quartet No. 2 and Quirkhead by Nina Shekhar, and the continuation of Experiments in Opera's Five Ways To Die opera in development. She continues collaborations with composer Misha Dutka in a poignant opera about the life of Brandon Teena, Brandon's Song, creating the role of Teryn Gilchrist in a performance commemorating the Transgender Day of Remembrance. Alize returns to Hub City Opera to perform the role of Heather in her very own Phony, for which she served as librettist, collaborating alongside composer David Matthew Brown, in the Spring of 2023, after her debut with the same company last year as Serpina in La Serva PadronaIn the Spring of 2024, she will make her role debut as Frasquita in Carmen with Boheme Opera.

Recent performances include appearing with Beth Morrison Projects in “when icarus fell, was there a splash?” by Maya
Miro Johnson, performed with Contemporaneous Ensemble and conducted by Kamna Gupta, and National Sawdust, and at
New Music on the Point, performing several world premieres alongside artists including Tony Arnold, and the Jack Quartet, and at SPLICE Festival in Kalamazoo, MI performing in the premiere of

She performed as Katherine Hutchinson in The Silk City, a brand new work conducted by the composer
himself, Francesco Santelli, with Garden State Opera, and a World Premiere in two parts, Liebovar by Misha Dutka in the
role of Rivka with Opera Boheme NJ. Other recent engagements include her debut with Opera Fayetteville as Zina in Nico
Muhly’s Dark Sisters, Phyllis in Iolanthe at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Harrogate, England, returning after

Ensemble, and the lead role of Zohara in the world premiere of Meira Warshauer’s opera Elijah’s Violin at the Presidio of San
Francisco under the baton of Jonathan Khuner and Directed by Yefim Maizel. During the heart of the pandemic, Alize adapted Handel's Alcina REVAMPED into an English, LGBT fantastical production complete with electronics and instrumental reconfiguration, performing the role of Morgana, with Alter Ego Chamber Opera and the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.

Alize’s concert performances include performing Apparition for George Crumb himself in October of 2019, for his 90th
birthday at the Annenberg Center, Soprano Solos in Carmina Burana with the Cape Cod Symphony, at Carnegie Hall as
soprano soloist in Berio’s Sinfonia, and Pierrot Lunaire in her own unique English adaptation as requested by The Curtis
Institute
’s 20/21 Ensemble at the Kennedy Center. Other favorite performances include the arias of Königin der Nacht with
Den Nye Oper Orchestra, in Bergen, Norway, the Soprano Solos in Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concerts, a stylistic fusion of

Louis Karchin’s Jane Eyre with the Center for Contemporary Opera, created the role of Andy #1, in Andy: A Popera, a World
Premiere with Opera Philadelphia, reprising the work with the Seattle Symphony [Untitled 3] Series. She helped to create
several roles including Lila in Jennifer Higdon’s Cold Mountain, and Silvana in Missy Mazzoli’s A Flourish of Green
workshop with Opera Philadelphia and the Mother in Errollyn Wallen’s Sabina Spielrein with the Center for Contemporary
Opera. Other favorite highlights include Delia in Il Viaggio a Reims with the Rossini Opera Festival, under the baton of the
late famed maestro, Alberto Zedda.

Alize was honored to serve as an ArtistYear Fellow (Americorps) at South Philadelphia High School from 2015-
2017, during which she taught and produced two full-length musicals from the ground-up, Dreamgirls and The Wiz,
captivating attention, funding and revitalization for the Alma Matter of Mario Lanza and Marian Anderson which had fallen

As a librettist, Alize was a finalist, along with composer collaborator Roger A. Martinez, for MassOpera’s NOW (New Opera Workshop), and the recipient of the Lolotte Gaucher Fellowship Award at Really Spicy Opera’s Aria Institute where she will continue her studies as librettist in the Spring of 2023.
